I've been working on building fishing rods for about a year and a half now. I started out basic, by working on fixing up fishing rods to get a better hang of it. Now, I've progressed onto building rods from "scratch". I really like working with the St. Croix blanks, as well as Lamiglas. Above are a few samples of my work. Lately, on the spinning rods I've built, I've gone to micro guides for the last few guides. This makes the rod more sensitive, the rod casts further, reduces the overall weight of the rod, and keeps the line closer to the rod blank for a more natural "bend" and less stressful. The Alconite series from Fuji, or the Ringlock Guides from American Tackle make good Micro Guides as well as good "normal" guides.
